Lenovo G550 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)

#1: Lenovo G550 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black) Reviews!

I'm just a casual user, so I wanted a cheap laptop that works faster than the one I bought 5 years ago. For under 0, I got a laptop that works and works pretty well.
Pros -
Has a number pad if you need to input data.
Shiny!
Windows 7 instead of Vista.
More RAM and hard drive space than my older computers combined.
~4 hours of battery life.
3 USB ports

Cons -
Shiny, but screen can reflect a little too much sometimes so it's hard to see at certain angles.
Keyboard has a tendency to double letters or drop letters sometimes. Never had this problem on my old laptop (Dell Inspiron 6000), and I just checked to make sure I have the newest drivers.
Mouse pad can be unresponsive sometimes, which annoys me to no end. Also not a problem I had on the old laptop.
Facial recognition program tells me to take my glasses off before I use it. How stupid does that sound to someone who is blind as a bat and NEEDS those glasses? (Only a minor con as I don't really care about the security. My friend has a laptop with a fingerprint scanner, which is more fun, but infinitely stupid unless you wear gloves when you handle your computer.)

Customer Reviews

Worst Customer "service" ever - Superstar -
I can't say much about the product itself since it never arrived. I ordered directly from Lenovo and after 2 weeks of waiting, I finally got notification that the product had been shipped. It was scheduled to be delivered on 6/25, so I stayed home to wait for it, but it never arrived. I checked again and it was rescheduled to be delivered on 6/28. I stayed home yet again to wait for the product, and it did not arrive. The next day, I called UPS and they said that they did not know where the package was and that I would need to contact Lenovo to get a tracer started on the package. I called Lenovo and they assured me that I would receive it that day (6/29) even though I told them that UPS had told me to contact Lenovo to put in a request to search for the package. They claimed that the computer was held up in customs. The tracking results from UPS indicated that it was sent out for delivery at 4:11am on 6/28. I asked when it was released from customs and the rep from Lenovo told me it was released from customs at 4:00am on 6/28. It did not help explain in any way why I didn't receive my package since it had left customs and was out for delivery that morning. They refused to provide me with any help. When I finally got them to actually do something, they claimed that they were going to contact UPS. By then, I had to leave the house and so I asked them to email me with the status. I never received an email or any follow up call from them. Of course, I did not receive the computer. I called them again on Wednesday, 6/30, they again assured me that I should get my computer that day. They basically looked up the status online, which is the same thing I can do. UPS updates their website every night. When a package does not get delivered, it automatically pushes the delivery date out to the next day. Anyway, when I finally got to speak with a supervisor, the supervisor told me the same thing. They kept assuring me that I will receive the package. Then I finally was able to get them to just send me a new computer. I was told I would get an update on when I should receive my computer within 5 days. I never received any sort of update whatsoever.

I called again after 5 days and I was told I had to wait another 5 days to get an update. I told them that I already waited 5 days. I got hung up on several times during this process. I called back and asked to speak with a supervisor. The person on the phone told me that supervisor would not be able to tell me anything different. He told me that the new order request had just been put in. I informed him that I was told it was put in last week. When I finally got the supervisor on the phone, she told me the same thing. When I tried to tell her the whole situation, she didn't even let me finish before she just talked right over me. Then she goes and "checks" on the status again. She gets back on the line and tells me that they no longer make that product and that I can get a refund. There was no ETA on when I should expect to get my money back. By this time, it has already been a month since my initial order and they had already taken my money. They never offered to send me a similar product or anything.

If you plan on getting a Lenovo, please be forewarned that if you have ANY issues with your computer, do not expect to receive any sort of reasonable service from this company. Having had such a horrible experience before I even receive the product, I am weary about what might happen when I actually need to contact this company for technical support.
