I ordered the Acer AO532h-2326 and 2 GB RAM expansion by Crucial suggested by Amazon, as well as the USB External CD DVD RW Burner Drive For Acer Aspire one.

The RAM I got from Amazon is listed under a different number than the number Crucial lists for that computer on their web site, and it didn't work at first. I ordered the RAM from Crucial, thinking that Amazon had got the number wrong. When it came, it had exactly the same number on it's sticker as what I got from Amazon (for a few dollars less) - and neither worked at that point. The Crucial site does say you have to have the latest BIOS, so I went to the Acer site and got the BIOS updater. After updating the BIOS from 1.08 to 1.25, the RAM I'd originally got from Amazon works fine. Be aware that different models of Aspire One have incompatible BIOS's, and if the BIOS is corrupted it can render the computer unusable, so it is important that the BIOS you intend to install be for the model number of computer you have.

Some people have reported problems with that optical drive, and the suggestion was made that it's the luck of the draw, with a variety of manufacturers' drives going into the boxes. The one I received works (reads and burns CD's, haven't tried DVD's yet) with the Windows 7 Starter that came installed on the Aspire One, and Device Manager says it's a Pioneer DVDRW DVR-K17B USB Device.

I like the netbook, though if I were designing it, the top cover and some interior surfaces would have the same matte finish that's on the rest of the exterior, but the way it shows fingerprints on the glossy surfaces is a minor complaint. I was surprised by the amount of force it took to plug USB cables or devices into the computer, but I assume that with wear it will get easier. I don't expect to use it as a primary computer, just for traveling (backup digital photos, web browsing, email), so I don't see any need to go beyond Windows 7 starter.

This is a great little Netbook and you get good value for your money on this one. I bought it for my wife and see is loving it, I even find myself using it sometimes. I realy like the keyboard on this one compared to many other Netbooks and that was one of the main reason for me picking this one.
